1. Professional Profile

  

It was founded in 1988 as a major in mold design and manufacturing. In 2005, it began to recruit students nationwide with the major of material forming and control engineering. So far, it has trained more than 1,500 graduates in material forming and control engineering. At present, there are 307 full-time students in this major.

  

After nearly 30 years of construction, the discipline of material forming and control engineering has developed well. In 2009, the discipline of material processing engineering was approved as a school-level key construction discipline and was approved as a school-level characteristic specialty in the same year. In 2012, it was approved as a key construction specialty (machinery) in the 12th Five Year Plan of Jiangsu Province together with the specialty of mechanical design and manufacturing automation. In 2019, it was approved as a first-class specialty. In 2020, it was approved as the first-class undergraduate specialty construction point in Jiangsu Province.

1.1 Professional training objectives

  

This major implements the party's education policy insists on morality and cultivating people, based southern Jiangsu, faces the Yangtze River Delta region, faces the mold industry and intelligent manufacturing industry, meets the needs of local economic and social development, and cultivates qualified builders and reliable successors of the socialist cause with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, physique, aesthetics and labor, has social responsibility, professional quality and innovative spirit, can track technological development, and apply new knowledge to solve complex engineering problems in the fields of material molding process, molding die design and manufacturing, molding process control, etc. Undergraduate application-oriented engineering and technical talents who are engaged in product design, mold development, production operation, and technical management in small and medium-sized enterprises can also use the knowledge they have learned to extend to related industries and become interprofessional and interdisciplinary backbone talents.

  

It is expected to achieve the following goals in about 5 years after graduation:

  

1. Have good professional ethics and literacy, have the willingness and ability to serve the society, and become a qualified builder and reliable successor of the socialist cause.

  

2. Be able to comprehensively apply basic theories, professional knowledge and interdisciplinary knowledge to analyze and study complex engineering problems in the fields of material forming technology, mold design and manufacturing, and forming process control.

  

3. Be able to engage in the design, development and production of related products in the fields of material molding process, molding die design and manufacturing, molding process control, etc., and innovatively propose solutions according to engineering needs, and consider the influence of laws, environment, sustainable development and other factors.

  

4. Be able to play a technical backbone or management role in the team in the fields of material forming process, forming mold design and manufacturing, forming process control, etc., and be able to cooperate and communicate effectively.

  

5. Have the awareness of knowledge updating and lifelong learning awareness in the fields of material forming technology, forming mold design and manufacturing, forming process control, etc., can acquire knowledge and improve ability through continuing education or other means, and have an international perspective.

2. Professional situation

  

2.1 Teachers

  

This major is affiliated to the Department of Mechanics and Surface Engineering. There are 20 professional teachers, including 7 professors, 7 associate professors, and among the professional teachers, there are 11 with doctor’s degree. The professional title structure, age structure and educational background structure of the teaching staff are reasonable, with high professional theoretical level and strong practical ability. Among the teaching staff, there are 2 outstanding young backbone teachers of the Qinglan Project in Jiangsu Province, 1 famous teaching teacher, 1 training candidate, 9 personnel with overseas research experience, and 19 with engineering backgrounds.

2.2 Experimental conditions

  

The major has a polymer laboratory, a material forming laboratory and a mold disassembly and assembly laboratory. The main instruments and equipment include melt flow rate tester, VICAT thermal deformation tester, intelligent precision oil electric injection molding machine, CNC precision EDM machine, EDM CNC machine tools, vertical injection molding machine, laser engraving machine, press and a series of disassembly and assembly molds, etc. Students can also work in the provincial mechanical engineering practice education center and receives skill training and exercise. In addition, the major also shared the resources of the key laboratory of digital electrochemical machining in Jiangsu Province.

  

This major has established three types of practice bases of cooperation, close cooperation and integrated development with more than 20 companies such as Changzhou Huawei Mould Co., Ltd., Changzhou Xingyu Auto Lighting Co., Ltd., Changzhou Xinquan Mould Co., Ltd., creating good conditions for helping students expand the practical vision of engineering and realize the integration of production and learning.

2.3 Teaching and research achievements

  

Teachers affiliated to the specialty actively carry out teaching and scientific research and the integration of industry and education. In terms of teaching, professional teachers have undertaken 10 teaching and research projects in recent three years, including 3 provincial and ministerial projects; approved the construction of 14 courses at all levels, including online open courses, excellent courses, online courses and professional core courses; The first editor-in-chief published a total of 9 textbooks; won 14 awards for various teaching achievements. In terms of scientific research, in the past three years, teachers of this major have undertaken 4 national-level projects, 5 municipal-level projects, and 18 enterprise horizontal projects, with a total project funding of 9,395,500 yuan; 13 invention patents have been authorized, and 7 invention patents have been transferred; Five It has won 5 scientific research awards above the provincial and ministerial level.
